Access Options: Site License and Codeless Access
CDX offers two ways to give students access to their courses without distributing individual access codes or sharing student lists.
Option 1: Site License (Institutional Access)
A site license is a school-level subscription or license agreement.
How it works
- The school purchases access for a defined number of students (or an entire program or campus).
- CDX creates a course or access portal for the institution.
- The school distributes a registration link to students.
- Students create their own CDX accounts using their email address.
- Students join the course themselves.
Benefits
- No student lists are shared with CDX.
- No manual enrollment by CDX staff.
- Students manage their own accounts.
- Easier administration for the school.
- Better privacy compliance.
Simple example
Instead of emailing a spreadsheet with 100 student names and emails, the instructor sends students a link and each student signs up on their own.
Option 2: Codeless Access
Codeless access is similar to an access code model, except students don't need to enter a code.
How it works
- CDX provides a unique course registration link.
- The instructor shares the link with students.
- Students click the link, create an account (or sign in), and are automatically placed into the correct course.
- Access is granted based on the course setup rather than an individual code.
Benefits
- No access codes to distribute or lose.
- No spreadsheets of student information.
- No manual enrollment work.
- Faster student onboarding.
- More compliant with GDPR and privacy policies.
Simple example
A student receives: "Click this link to access your Automotive Maintenance course."
The student creates an account and gains access immediately — no code, no enrollment request, and no involvement from a support person.
